A fantastic achievement. A true reward for all the effort put in over the year. Makes those early starts on all the cold wet winter mornings, when others are still snoring, more worthwhile. A huge congratulations to coaches Ryan Demaine & Christopher Hermes and all the girls. #HSOBC 💙

Four weeks ago, I asked Ryan Demaine and Christopher Hermes what their definition of success looks like. They said “winning again at Henley … and then dominating the event for a few years”. Well, your team did it!! This is an incredible achievement and, hopefully, it’s the start of a dominant period now for Headington School.

2nd year competing. 2nd year getting 2nd place, in flight 2. That's quite a mouthful...This past weekend, Mark Borlin and I competed in the Silver Lake CC Member Guest and came up short. It was a hard-fought weekend where every match mattered. It turns out only a few putts were the difference between us winning our flight and going on into the championship march. In sports and in life, the details matter. Small decisions add up and end up making huge impacts. It might not feel important but pay attention to the small choices you make. Each one affects the direction you're going and where you'll be 20 years from now. #growth #competition #accountingandfinance

🚀 **Embracing the Journey: Lessons from Gareth Southgate and the England Football Team** 🚀As we reflect on the journey of Gareth Southgate and the England football team, there's a profound lesson in their relentless pursuit of a major trophy. Despite the heartbreaks and near misses, their story is one of resilience, determination, and the unwavering belief that success is just around the corner.🏆 **Persistence Overcomes All Obstacles** 🏆It's easy to get disheartened when the ultimate goal seems just out of reach. Yet, Southgate and his team exemplify the importance of never giving up. They remind us that:- **Consistency**: Continually showing up and giving your best effort, day in and day out, is crucial.- **Determination**: Even when the odds are stacked against you, it's your inner drive that pushes you forward.- **Mindset**: Cultivating a winning mindset means embracing challenges, learning from failures, and always striving for excellence. These principles apply not just to football but to every aspect of our lives. Whether you're aiming to achieve a personal milestone, advance in your career, or conquer a new challenge, it's this unyielding spirit that propels you forward.🌟 **Dream Big and Dare to Succeed** 🌟It's only through stepping outside our comfort zones and daring to dream that we open the door to incredible opportunities. Just like the England team, we might face setbacks, but it's the courage to keep going that defines our journey. So, let's take inspiration from Southgate and his squad. Let's continue to push our boundaries, stay consistent, and maintain a positive mindset. Because success is not just about the final achievement—it's about the journey, the growth, and the unwavering belief that one day, we too will lift our version of the cup.#NeverGiveUp #Resilience #Determination #WinningMindset #DreamBig #SuccessJourney #UEFA #Football #GarethSouthgate #England

Great reminder post from Thomas Hal Robson-Kanu below. Here's my re-write for underestimated founders:Continually overlooked and underestimated - the hurt goes on.But let's not forget the immense growth and resilience underestimated founders continue to show. Diversity-X has a community of underestimated founders, who, despite the challenges, strap on the boots and climb the mountain daily.Underestimated founders do break through and reach remarkable milestones and created incredible impact - which in itself is awe-inspiring. To all underestimated founders and their teams - congratulations on everything you have achieved to date. Keep 🧗🏾♂️!You’ve faced criticism from those who have never walked in your shoes, or are just overlooked and underestimated. When you realise that what doesn’t break you makes you stronger, this journey will help shape your future success. 🏆Keep your heads held high… the best is yet to come 🙏Have a great day!#founders #startups #angelinvestors #vc #ecosystem

Do you know who Dick Fosbury was? (No tittering in the back there). I actually did, and I was interested to note his obituary in the Telegraph just over 6 months ago, because I didn't realise his impact on his field of expertise.I shall explain. Dick Fosbury was a high jumper who practically transformed the sport of high jumping overnight with his technique which became known as the Fosbury Flop. Every school child who was taught athletics will have started with the scissors kick, and then once you go over about 1.20m, you had to evolve to the Fosbury Flop. Whilst moonlighting from discus throwing where my dad was a NI national coach, I did a bit of high jumping and was beseeched by the legendary Maeve Kyle to grab that imaginary bag of gold which was apparently hanging just in front of and above the bar. This apparently gave one the lift required to segue into the Fosbury Flop. I tended to miss the gold, but collect the bar.Anyway, my point is this. Fosbury won gold in the 1968 Mexico Olympics with his unique technique. At the next Olympics in 1972, 28 out of 40 competitors were using the Fosbury Flop. The current world record by Sotomayor of 2.45m was achieved using the Fosbury Flop. Overnight, one person changed an entire sporting event forever. It's happened in other arenas too, and when I see this sort of transformation, it does give me hope that I can make a similar impact with how people experience the house moving process in Northern Ireland. I'm currently re-rewriting not just our online fee quote system, but I'm breaking down the whole journey of how the potential client becomes an actual client, and I think I have a fairly unique and innovative system - on paper. What I do know is that people looked at Dick Fosbury and thought he was a lunatic whose technique would encourage high jumpers to break their necks. They were wrong. So too must all of us who want to change our industries ignore the naysayers, and reach for that bag of gold.We also learnt the Western Roll just for the craic.#innovation #legaltech #movinghouse #northernireland #conveyancinghttps://lnkd.in/eXDrhy_i

⏰⚽️ TIME WAITS FOR NO-ONE ⚽️⏰Standards matter. Perception matters. Delivery is crucial.Yesterday we finally got our William Hill Scottish Championship campaign underway against a very well run and strong Ayr United Football Club side.Whilst the final result was nowhere near what we wanted, the progressive improvement & development in the playing squad under our Management Team of John Rankin & Darian Mackinnon over these last two seasons is evident; perhaps on another day the outcome could have been different. It’s actually only on match days like yesterday however that you fully appreciate just how well run off the park that your Stadium & the entire operational infrastructure has always been year on year under the watchful eye of our Stadium Manager Jimmy Thompson & his team of people.Sadly, as with most busiesses what goes on in the engine room never seems to get the credit it’s due or the recognition that it deserves & there are many unsung heroes behind the scenes. To have maintained the pretty much flawless standards and the impeccable delivery for our customer base and visiting spectators that we’ve become accustomed to Hamilton Academical Football Club Limited (certainly in my time at the Club) takes a phenomenal amount of personal effort, investment, pride in your output & knowledge/capability.These outstanding standards and levels of operational ability aren’t something that are just simply cross transferable either. As we’ve now moved back into possibly the most demanding and challenging League in the Scottish Professional Football League, it’s not only on the field of play that our quality, capability and class as a club will be measured across this season and beyond.Time really waits for no-one, and in a world and on a stage where public opinion based on their experiences is shared openly and freely on Social Media, it’s imperative that we strive to have as good a team and standards of excellence off the park as we do on it.Next time you attend a football match and enjoy a beer in hospitality or a Pie/Bovril in the stands, take a moment to sit and think of the importance of the person like Jimmy at that venue who actually ensured that you could be there to support your Team without issue. The fact is you wouldn’t have enjoyed the best movie you’ve ever seen without a great production crew. 🙏🏽#Gratitude #Awareness #Appreciation #Standards #Reputation #Consistency #Knowledge

At face value, this video might look like a passionate football manager reflecting on a game, questioning decisions made by match officials (referees, VAR etc). But, look a bit deeper - it is about the divide that exists between the East and West. It's that feeling of being an outsider because of where you live. People have a preconceived idea of who you are based on where you are from. And then there is the feeling of disenfranchisem*nt, the reality is we don't have the same access to things as other areas do. Growing up in South West Sydney, I understand this feeling well. Whenever I'd go to a public speaking competition held at private schools in Sydney's east. When I went to Sydney University. Even at some of my previous jobs. The A-Leagues have an opportunity to shine a spotlight on all the beauty the west has to offer. As Marko Rudan articulated, our community is culturally diverse, passionate, ambitious - we add so much value to the country as a whole. Football can unite the community and can be the platform to exhibit the best of our community too. 👉 This means the way we talk about our communities in the media, how we call out language that is harmful, the standards we hold everyone too (no double standards) and make sure we have different perspectives at decision making tables. Macarthur FC and Western Sydney Wanderers are a beacon of hope for football loving kids in the west but also too an example of the kind of quality you can expect to find in our growing suburbs. (P.S. GO THE BULLS!!)https://lnkd.in/g3Rdss-h

Humble Pie Never Tasted So Sweet - A Lesson in Leadership and Unity 🥧🎉Let’s take a moment to celebrate Gareth Southgate and the incredible journey of the England football team. Beating the Netherlands to secure a spot in the European Championship final against Spain is no small feat, and it marks England’s first final outside of its home turf. Southgate, often the target of critics, has proven his mettle as the most successful England manager in history. ⚽🏆Sticking to the Plan and Leading with UnityOne thing that stands out to me in this journey is how Southgate has managed to keep the players focused on the mission. Despite the noise from critics and doubters, the team has shown remarkable unity. Even those players who haven’t seen much game time have remained supportive and committed. Southgate isn’t just managing a squad; he’s managing a backroom staff and an entire nation’s expectations. 🇬🇧🙌Success isn’t just about tactics or talent. It’s about sticking to a plan, maintaining focus, and fostering a sense of togetherness. Southgate has shown us that authentic leadership means guiding your team through adversity, not getting sidetracked by outside noise, and staying committed to the mission. 🚀💪England has undoubtedly ridden their luck at times, but this journey also highlights the power of gratitude, humility, and manifesting what you truly believe in. Amazing things can happen when you combine hard work with a positive mindset. 🌟🙏So, here’s to Gareth Southgate, the players, and everyone on this journey. It’s a powerful reminder that unity and commitment to the mission can overcome any obstacle in any organisation. And to all the doubters, it looks like it’s time to enjoy some humble pie! 🥧😋I’ve heard a little rumour that Southgate might be the next Man United manager. Cue the critics! 🔥👀Remember, whether on the pitch or in the office, stick to the plan, support each other, and don’t let the critics distract you. Success will follow. 💼👏Stay focused, stay united, and celebrate this incredible achievement together! 🎉🔥1 more to go!!! 🏴 🇪🇸 #Comeonengland #Resilience #Gratitude #Focus #Humility #Euros2024
