The Loving Cup was made by famous potters Spode-Copeland and was presented to the First Division clubs to commemorate the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in May 1937. The President of Stoke City , Sir Francis Joseph , commissioned the piece and is numbered 16 out of limited edition of just 30 , of which only four are known to exist. There is a tradition that the Directors toast the reigning monarch and drink from the cup.
